This week I’ve had a little bit of extra time on my hands, and a little bit of bandwidth for expansion.
Although the summer break is drawing slowly to its inevitable close, I want to use this brief window of spacious betweenness well – well, at least intentionally…
I started thinking about more craft projects (I had already sewed a tote bag and a bolster cover and started another bolster cover – also basically a double ended drawstring bags…) but honestly, I don’t want the stuff hanging around after.
I started a Conqueror Challenge walking 400 miles on the Silk Road. It’s surprising how much more interesting walking the same path becomes when in some virtual context I’m travelling slowly through distant and exotic places (and dreaming that maybe one day I’ll even go there for real)
I’ve had a couple of amazing gentle massages. Highly recommend that if you’re thinking about it. Bodywork is not something i ever considered for myself until very recently. Now I think let treatments be treats – and schedule them – not wait until they are medical necessities.
I finished all my special Christmas spiced teas and the breathing space that went with them feeling that what I needed most coming into this new year is a lucky break. I’ve been doing the steady foundation work, now I need that je ne sais quoi that makes it come alive, gives it legs.
Assuming I’m not the only woman who needs that, I’ve made it my new offer – Lucky Break. Which feels terribly risky and audacious – and I trust the process completely.
Also decided that serendipity and synchronicity are signs that I’m on track.
That is, when something i’ve been thinking about just turns up in my sphere, or something i’ve forgotten about unexpectedly returns, manifest.
So two things have returned to my awareness:
First – I apparently suggested to my sister and her friend in their craft club to improve bland landscapes with monsters. I have zero recollection of this, but I totally love it as an idea!
I know this because out of the blue they sent me a few pictures and they were absolutely perfect – all of banal, whimsical and just slightly sinister.
Unfortunately I can’t share them with you, but I am so thrilled with how those women manifested that idea.
After this, the algorithm sent me a pitch from the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC inviting remixing classics. I sent it on to these two creatives. Perhaps they’ll be in a real gallery next. Now that would be a lucky break!!!!
Second – I got invited to a chat group with a couple of friends, that initially I was resistant to – i don’t much enjoy a group for the sake of a group – I like an agenda – but then I actually looked at the content and saw the invitation into power.
Remembered that i am keenly interested in power and its embodied manifestation
And lord knows we need more intelligent people, including women, claiming their power these days as idiots wield it recklessly on the global stage.
So now I am deep in Kasia Urbaniak’s 7 day power challenge.
And feeling like this is my turf. I can do this stuff.
I am brave enough to just do things for the rush of committing and completing on my own terms.
Today’s challenge was about the energy shift, the power of praise.
Which brings me, finally, to the subject line.
Thank you for your respectful listening / reading.
Your silent witnessing of my ongoing exploration is powerful and enabling for me.
I wished for a respectful listener to untangle my thinking and could not think of anyone in my immediate world who I felt able to ask that of. That’s not how my closest circle of relationships are structured.
Then, I realised that in the online space there is plenty of room and bandwidth for respectful listening.
(not everybody of course – there is a whole world of trolls out there too)
Which is why I appreciate and admire the uncritical attention you are willing and able to give me and my meanderings.
So now I’m excited about the void.
And still curious to see what will emerge from it when I hit the right notes.
In perfect time.
Thank you for being there, being you, unmoved, staying with me on this blessed journey.
And, as you’re willing to share, I’d love to know:
what you see, what you feel, what you enjoy most as you watch me here.
Hit reply and spill the tea if you dare. You might be surprised how you feel to share it.
