Radiant Voices interview with Lina Arango, Second Act Reset

Listen, comment and follow on Spotify podcasts

Lina is a thoughtful, perceptive, and energetic speaker. Listening to her, I found myself gathering multiple gems of wisdom. Here are three that landed deeply for me. I’d love to hear what you learned from listening.

The Power of Enoughness

The show-stopping moment for me was when Lina described the absence of that relentless inner voice—the one that pushes for more, harder, further. Goosebumps.

That mental silence? Palpable. A sense of enoughness and contentment.

There’s this idea that feeling enough and content would mean slipping into laziness. But I’ve seen that true enoughness feels like a rhythm—a cycle of action, reflection, and rest.

It’s not about doing nothing. It’s about trusting that you’ll return to your work, your rest, and your reflection in time. Over many cycles, you build a quiet confidence—knowing you’ve done enough for now, rested enough, reflected enough.

And that’s what lets the nagging stop. That’s what lets your mind relax, as you build sustainable momentum.

🌱 Identity Over Obligation

The second insight that landed with a thud was Lina’s idea of choosing identity over another to-do list.

Instead of telling myself I must go for a walk, I can choose to be an active person. It’s a subtle but profound shift. I’m not just doing something—I’m becoming someone.

When I take action from this identity, it feels lighter, even uplifting. It’s an expression of who I am, not just another checkbox.

Of course, there are still things that feel heavy—URGH is a common note in my journal! And I know that when an action feels like a burden, I’m more likely to spend energy resisting it rather than simply doing it.

So, I’ve been exploring where I can make actions work for me—changing the timing, duration, or approach. Somewhere in that process, a burdensome task can shift to an expression of who I choose to be.

Even writing this post is an example. I planned to have it done earlier, but other things came up. Instead of forcing it, I let myself cook a couple of comforting meals on this grey, rainy afternoon (Melting Afghan Chickpea Curry and my own Pink Protein Penne). And now, with more energy, I’m writing from a place of joy.

🌟 Desire Over Fear

The third insight was Lina’s recognition that her desire to serve has become greater than her fear of visibility.

I believe it genuinely takes time to reach this point—and we may find ourselves here again and again as we step into new versions of ourselves.

As we make peace with our complexities, it becomes easier to be seen. We discover new ways to serve, new groups to serve, and the courage to reach them.

But this also means learning to trust ourselves—to care for our own needs even while we serve others. When we can show up authentically, without overextending, service becomes sustainable.

Two Loops of Sustainable Joy

There’s something beautiful about the loops Lina’s insights form:

  • The rhythm of action, rest, and reflection builds self-trust.
  • The resonance of genuine service creates a positive feedback loop with those we help.

Two linked loops, like an infinity symbol—sustainable, growing, and alive.

Definitely worth the risk of a little vulnerability and outreach.

PS: Lina’s cheeky observation that “There is no Spring in Canada” made me laugh. Fall is stunning, winter has a long tail, and then—bang!—it’s summer. Priceless local knowlege.

From stuck to strong – Midlife reinvented

What if your midlife transformation wasn’t about fixing yourself but about finally listening to who you are?

I neglected that voice. “No I am comfortable here. I’m comfortable. Don’t bug me.” It was always there. And now – it’s not.

Lina Arango shares how enacting mindful shifts, including facing fear, embracing change, and leaning into her multicultural roots, helped her turn anxiety into purpose  — transforming her life and guiding other women to do the same.

Encouragement for Sensitive Souls:

If Lina’s story feels a little daunting, remember—

your pace is your own.

Growth isn’t a race;

it’s a rhythm.

Even the smallest step toward trusting yourself is powerful.

Give yourself grace to explore, rest, and begin again. 🌱

Affirmation for experienced Women

Many Women love to give, reflect, and support others.

They are conditioned to believe their worth is tied to constant productivity.

Which undermines our ability to honor our own rhythms of action, rest, and reflection.

Remember, you can trust yourself to know when enough is enough.

I trust you to honor your own pace and choose actions that uplift you.

Inside this episode of Radiant Voices, you’ll find wisdom that invites you to shift from obligation to identity, to trust your own rhythm, and to serve with joy. 🌱

Desire to serve greater than the fear of visibility

The goading voice is silent now.  Wow   < showstopper.

And also that canada has no spring.   Lol.  love that.

I neglected that voice. “No I am comfortable here. I’m comfortable. Don’t bug me.” It was always there. And now – it’s not.

In this interview, Lina tells a detailed story of where she’s come from in many ways, and also clearly where she’s heading now

Lina is a thoughtful, perceptive and energetic speaker.  Multiple gems of wisdom landed in this interview for me.

I share three of them below.   I’d love to hear what you learned from listening.

First, The showstopping moment was hearing about the absence of the voice in her head goading her on to doing more and more and pushing harder and further.

Goosebumps.

That mental silence and peace is palpable for me.

Enoughness and contentment right there.

There is an idea around that feeling enough and content would mean some kind of slackness and loafing.

In fact what I have observed is a sense of enoughness is felt when there is a rhythm, a cycle of action, reflection and rest.

Because it is possible to have done enough for now when there is trust that I will return to the work.

Equally for rest and reflection.   The certainty of return, built gradually over time, over many cycles of return, is what allows the nagging to stop.

So there is enough done for now.  Enough rest.  Enough reflection.

It is possibly to move on.

Rhythm is what feels like sustainable momentum to me.

Then my mind can relax, because it knows the other parts will be attended to in turn.

And so it is silent, content.

Second thump of heavy landing was the idea of choosing identity rather than having another to do list.

To be and become a person who is active, rather than someone who must go for a walk.

This is a subtle shift, and an important one.

Because when I am voluntarily choosing to take action, then I own that action. The action becomes uplifting, an expression of who I am and who I am becoming.  It comes through me. I have control over what and how and when, and can make it work for me.

On the other hand, if this is another burdensome task that i must do, then it weighs me down.  Urgh.

(LOL, right there I can see there are plenty of actions in my own life that still feel heavy for me – URGH is a very common note in my journaling…)

I may well find myself spending more time and energy fighting the thing than simply doing it.

Easier said that done that.

Great to reflect on though, and feel for where are the actions I can at least sometimes take joyfully, and where is there still resistance.

And where there is resistance, how can I approach the task so that it works better for me.

Often there is room to negotiate.   Perform on my own terms.   Timing, duration, quality….

Somewhere in that process, the task can flip to being expression.

Even writing this post.   It has a loose deadline, and I was expecting earlier in the day it would be done by the afternoon.   Then other things got in the way.     I could have pushed to meet my own expectation.

But there was no juice or joy left in me.  Urgh.

Instead, I gave myself space to enjoy cooking a couple of meals on this very wet grey afternoon (Melting Afghan chickpea curry and Pink Protein Penne with Parmesan, Pepper and cheese – that second one is my own recipe, inspired by mac and cheese,  featuring beetroot stems and leaves)

Now, though it’s much later in the day, I am feeling more energised and excited about writing this content than I would have been earlier.

And, back to the point above, I am able to take that break intentionally because I trust my commitment to finishing the tasks I have set for myself.

So I make it work for me.

Third Lina’s recognition that now, her Desire to serve is greater than her fear of visibility

I think it genuinely takes time to reach that point.

And I imagine that we can reach that point again and again, as we encounter new levels of ourselves and the possibility of serving from there.

As we make peace with more of our complexities and vulnerabilities, it slowly becomes easier to be seen, and we discover more ways to serve, and imagine different groups who could benefit from our experience, if we dare to be seen.

Again, looping back to the earlier points, there is a process of developing self trust – that we will not overextend and forget to care for ourselves;  and also of finding ways to act authentically from within our capacity, rather than because we must – because there is a box to be ticked.

Then that desire to serve is sustainable and invites our honest self expression.

When that genuine service meets the right audience, the folks who resonate with our wisdom and experience,  another positive feedback loop is created.

I think that is two linked loops now, which sounds like an infinity symbol.

Rhythm and resonance, self sustaining and growing organically.

That sounds amazing to me.

Definitely worth the risk of a little vulnerability and outreach.

On a much more mundane note, I loved hearing Lina’s potentially controversial opinion that “There is no Spring in Canada”.   There’s fall, which is spectacular, and winter with a long tail and then bang! Summer.

Priceless local knowledge IMHO.
